Fall in the Driftless

Having lived in the Richland County portion of the Driftless for over 34 years, my wife and I have had the great pleasure of enjoying the changing seasons from the top of a beautiful ridge. I love all four seasons. Although, fall is my favorite because of the cool crisp air, the fresh smell of fall, the beautiful colors, the birds circling above preparing to fly south, the streams, rock formations, bluffs, and the wide variety of wildlife. Camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, photographing, hiking, and exploring the back roads are only some of the pleasures one can enjoy during this particular season.

It has often been said that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” I believe this to be so very true! Included with this article are a number of pictures that were taken by me around the area we live. It would be impossible for me to describe any of them with words. Seeing is the best way to convey the sheer beauty to be observed in the Driftless.

I do hope you will see some of the beauty we get to observe on a daily basis in this unique corner of Wisconsin. Come and see, photograph, and share nature’s beauty with family and friends… Enjoy!
