Spring Green Plan Commission faces scrutiny on Commercial Kennel and Dog Boarding Permit

In a meeting held on June 19th, the Spring Green the Spring Green Plan Commission and Joint Extraterritorial Zoning Committee, heard discussion on the consideration of a request by Clinton Kane and Jill Janssen Kane for a conditional use permit for a “Commercial Kennel & Dog Boarding” to be located at S12904 Pearl Road, in the Town of Spring Green.

The story originally aired on Channel 3000 in Madison, Wisconsin on June 24th. It was reported some residents originally thought that the facility was to be used as a boarding facility for dogs, but learned otherwise and alerted the board that the Kanes’ breeding and boarding operation of Beagles would be supplying the dogs to medical research companies for the health benefit of humans and animals.

Currently, the permit is pending the board’s approval with an additional meeting to be held with this issue on the agenda for Wednesday, July 17th at 7 pm.

The issue of the ethical use of animals for medical, cosmetic, or any other type of testing continues to be called into question across the nation.
